Science Week!

March 10, 2023

This week in Seedlings we have been celebrating Science! The theme for British Science Week 2023 was Connections, and we looked closely at this theme all week long! We did several experiments and investigations, looking at how soap works to make germs go away, exploring how stems work like straws to suck water up by adding blue colouring to the water for some white roses, and looking at a plant to investigate its parts. We learned about life cycles of plants, humans, and butterflies. We learned how our heart pumps blood through our body and works harder to pump blood with exercise. We also had our Tinkering Tuesday! We made butterflies and caterpillars that could move using our fantastic engineering skills while working in teams. At Forest School this week we thought about how we use our senses to experience nature. As the week went on, we had a super fun snow day where we made the most of the snow by spending our morning outside. We also made a soundscape this week for our story “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”, adding sounds to bring the story to life. In provision, some of the things we’ve enjoyed have included continuing experimentations, using playdough to make soil and flowers, using process art to blow paint around a page, playing life cycle snap, making nature paintings, and working on building letters. What a fun and exciting week it has been!
