Our Spring and Easter Events

April 8, 2022

It is National Autism Awareness week this week so we discussed what Autism is and watched and listened to Eli reading a poem about how his autism affects him. We then explored the work of Iris Grace, who is also autistic, and after the children worked in pairs to create a piece of artwork in the style of Iris Grace. The children have proved to be fantastic artists as the paintings that the children created are fabulous featuring lots of texture, colour and depth. We were also really proud of how well they worked together. On Tuesday we had our first open event where families were able to explore activities with their children at school. It was lovely to see so many families enjoying our outside space with the children. The activities included making sock bunnies, Easter chicks, egg and spoon races and a spring treasure hunt. On Wednesday the Easter bunny left a sealed box with a surprise inside. There was a note attached which said if they wanted to know what was inside they would need to write a letter to the Easter Bunny – all of the children wrote a letter! We opened the box on Friday, it contained some mini eggs and a note to say that the Easter Bunny had hidden chocolate eggs in the forest area for the children, they had great fun finding the eggs! We ended the week with a whole school Easter bonnet parade. Wishing you all a lovely Easter break from all of us in Apple Class!
