Term 5 – Animals and the Continents
May 29, 2024
Term 5 has been an amazing adventure across the seven continents of the world (and the children are never going to get the song out of their heads!) It started with an exciting visit from a lost penguin which led the children to spend two days researching where it might have come from. Amazingly penguins come from 4 Continents however, we eventually discovered that Cherry our lovely penguin came from the Antartic. We made lost posters to try and find out who she belonged to – with no luck! But in the end realised (with the help of the book Lost and Found) that Cherry was just lonely and wanted to be our friend. The children really loved learning about the seven Continents taking this interest in to their own learning. They also challenged themselves to learn as much as they could about different animals. By the end of the term they knew so many facts that they could challenge David Attenborough! It was also an exciting term in so many other ways including forest schools, the art exhibition, Earth day and so much more!
