Sycamore have had a great first week back to school and were excited to share all their half term news.

For our WOW Day this term we became Kings and Queens to introduce our new topic looking at monarchs. We will be learning about Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria and thinking about how life in Britain has changed since they ruled.

On Wednesday we had a royal breakfast banquet. The children decorated crowns which they then wore as we ate together and they even practised the royal wave!

 

They then looked at facts about Queen Elizabeth I. They watched a video about her life then read some information about her and shared the most interesting facts. Everyone was surprised to learn that if she got angry with people she would sometimes take off her shoes and throw them!!

In provision the children have been enjoying making castles and thrones and using our small world characters to create stories featuring kings, queens, knights, princesses and dragons.
