This week we have been really immersing the children in our story making story this term ‘We’re Going on a bear Hunt’. Every day they have retold the story learning the makaton signs to help them, we made a whole class story map which we have been learning to follow pointing to each part as we read. In our continuous provision we have provided a range of sensory experiences for the children to explore the different environments that the family visited. We have also provided lots of opportunities for the children to consolidate their understanding of the words under, over and through.

We have also introduced story squares to the children which they absolutely loved and showed great confidence standing up to perform in front of their friends and towards the end of the week the children independently began accessing the story map and sequencing resources to create their own story maps and sequence their own stories then retell them to grown ups or their friends.

 

As usual Seedlings Class never fail to surprise us with their ability to learn, their inquisitive nature and their creative flair. We are excited to see what next week brings!
