Broomhill Infant School

Three Little Pigs, Geographers and Athletes!

September 17, 2021

This week we have again been very busy in Sycamore Class!

We have been Storytellers, learning the story of The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf. We created a story map together and used Makaton to help us retell it. Next week we will create our own versions of the story with different characters. Can the children use our story map to retell the story at home?

We have been fantastic Mathematicians. We have been representing numbers, using Base 10 to find the amount of tens and ones in two digit numbers. We have also been comparing numbers using the symbols for ‘greater than’, ‘less than’ and ‘equal to’.

To help us become brilliant Writers we have been finding out all about nouns. We discovered that a noun is a person, a place or a ‘thing’ and made posters including some nouns we know. We’ve also been thinking about what happens to a noun when we have lots of the same thing- we need to add ‘s’ or ‘es’ to show there is ‘more than one’.

We were Geographers- we looked at the human and physical features of our local area and made our own maps with a key to show our journey to school and the things we pass on the way.

We were Athletes, practising our hops and skips as well as our balance skills!

Well done Sycamore for another great week!
